History
Flavorchem has a rich history rooted in strong family ties and a passion for chemistry. Salvatore Sprovieri, Flavorchem’s founder, graduated from DePaul University with a BS in Chemistry. He worked in the food ingredient industry for 20 years before founding Flavorchem in 1971. The company originally operated out of a small building in Bellwood, Illinois and initially focused on flavored syrups for the restaurant industry.
Flavorchem moved to Downers Grove, IL in 1982, where we still reside today. Our Illinois location has expanded to a sprawling 170,000 square foot, 8 building campus with an additional 60,000 square feet available for future expansion. The opening of our west coast operation in 1996 improved our distribution network and expanded our competencies to include distillation and spray drying.
Through the years, the heart of our business has been our talented, dedicated employees. They hold themselves to the highest standards, and have been and continue to be the driving force behind our growth and success.
