Reports To: Senior Manager of Flavor Applications

Hours: Monday – Friday

Job Description

We are currently seeking a Beverage Applications Scientist to join our dynamic R&D applications team! A successful candidate will utilize experience, knowledge, and industry resources to conduct experiments in our beverage applications laboratory. This role will include product development, shelf-life testing, and analyzing beverage formulations for customer-specific projects.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develop, improve, and maintain the quality of beverage formulations that meet technical and sensory requirements
  • Must have the ability to evaluate products with a high degree of accuracy and acutely discern differences
  • Efficiently and effectively duplicate beverages by employing reverse engineering techniques (analytical and sensory skills)
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records of lab work, inventory, and data collection
  • Provide technical support from benchtop to commercial processing of beverages
  • Assist in the creation of a wide variety of new beverage concepts
  • Remain current with industry trends to develop innovative products, formulations, and technologies
  • Must possess a strong understanding of ingredient stability, ingredient interactions, and the impact of overall product quality on consumer acceptance of a formulation
  • Assist customers in developing specifications for ingredients and finished products
  • Operate and maintain orderly operation of laboratory instruments
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet established timelines
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external customers
  • The backup to this position is the Sr. Beverage Applications Scientist

To ensure product safety and quality, the Beverage Applications Scientist is responsible for controlling physical contaminants, properly storing personal items, and reporting suspicious people or activities to their supervisor.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required

  • Bachelor of Science in Food Science, Chemistry, or related science field
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in beverage applications
  • Strong understanding of food and beverage science principles and laboratory procedures
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Ability to work in an organized manner, manage time, and prioritize tasks
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience working with flavors is preferred
