Candy manufacturers and consumers remain optimistic that longstanding Halloween traditions will not be strongly impacted by the pandemicThe National Confectioners Association reported 80of their respondents believe that people will find creative and safe ways to celebrate the festive season this year.

New sour-flavored confection launches saw a 38% growth with See’s Candies latest Sour Jelly Beans Trick-or-Treat Pack, which includes a mix of Sour Tangerine, Grape and Apple flavors. Available through the American Licorice Co., Boo Box features Sour Punch Straws and Sour Mini Bites while Hilco and Kool-Aid teamed up to release assorted fruity Sour Gummies.

Fall Favorites

Fall is in the air and so are limited-edition flavors like Pumpkin Pie Kit Kats, Salted Caramel M&M’s and Tootsie’s assortment of seasonal treats including their Caramel Apple Pops. Three fall-themed truffle flavors are found in Seattle Chocolate Co.’s newest care package, Apple Pie à la Mode, Pumpkin Spice, and Peanut Butter Pretzel.

Plant-based candy claims surged 78% from 2018-2019 as better-for-you brands like SmartSweets debuted low-sugar, plant-based chews including Sourmelon Bites and Peach Rings. Made with simple, vegan ingredients, UnReal’s chocolate line comprises coconut bars and peanut butter cups while Jojo’s Chocolate contains hemp-based protein and 4 flavor varieties.
